Expert Rowing Instruction
Join one of our upcoming classes in 2025! Designed for individuals that have little to no rowing experience or background, our Learn to Row program is offered most months of the year. This 4-week experience includes:
Expert coaches and volunteers
Fun and fitness on the water
Indoor training instruction on the ergometer (indoor rowing machine)
Boat handling, launching and maneuvering
Breakdown of the rowing stroke and expert tips on improving your technique
Readiness to enter one of our year-around programs
July 2026 Morning Learn to Row
Join us for our 4-week learn to row program. This class meets 3 days a week and will be focused on preparing students for either recreational rowing or competitive racing. You will not only learn the basics of rowing but you will also be provided a playbook for improving fitness and competing at regattas.
Upon completion, you will continue on in our novice team where you’ll continue your learning.
No experience required! We can’t wait to meet you!

Monday Orientation: July 6th, 5:30 to 7:00 AM
Practice Sessions: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:00 AM July 6th through July 30th
Graduation: July 30th 5:30 AM
September 2026 Evening Learn to Row
For our 4-week evening learn to row program, classes meets 2 days a week and focus on rowing for recreation, fitness, and community. You’ll learn the basics of rowing without immediately having to adjust your alarm clocks! After graduation, you can continue on with our evening recreational team or move to one of our morning teams where we offer both recreational and competitive options. Either path will help you continue to learn and grow as a rower.

September 5th to September 30th from 6:00 to 7:30 PM
Saturday Orientation: September 5th, 8:00 to 10:00 AM
Practice Sessions: Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00 to 7:30 PM September 7th through September 30th
Graduation: September 30th 6:00 PM
Private Lessons
Coaches will take you through three sculling lessons over the course of a week or two, on your schedule. This package is designed to give you the skills needed to become a member and join one of our programs (or practice on your own). After membership, you’ll be able to book equipment and to practice as often as you like!
What to Expect
1) Register & Pay
You’ll complete our registration, waivers and payment for your class on our iCrew platform. Click on the button above for the month you want to join.
2) Saturday Orientation
Wear snug fitting clothing and sunscreen, and bring plenty of water. We’ll show you around the boathouse, go over boat handling, equipment, the ergometer and the basics of the rowing stroke.
3) 4-week Class (8 sessions)
Once you’ve completed orientation, you are ready to get out on the water for 8 on-water sessions starting on the Monday after your Saturday orientation.
4) Join as a Member
If you’ve enjoyed your time with ORC, you can continue your learnings on Mondays and Wednesday evenings or in one of our open programs. Coach will meet with you at the end of the 4 weeks to determine your next steps.. Once you are ready, you can move up to a competitive group or stay in our open program indefinitely.
5) Grow with Us
